401 (K) Are Not Retierment Plans |
|
|
|
Attached is a paper prepared by FPPTA that responds to those who argue
that
defined benefit plans can be replaced with 401(k)-style accounts. The
paper
received contributions from Steve Cypen and Allison Bieler, Jeff Helms
and
Steve Palmquist. I edited the paper and it had several reviews by
professionals in the pension world. It is designed to educate elected
officials, appointed government officials, and the media about the
differences between defined benefit plans and defined contribution
accounts. I hope you find the paper useful and feel free to share it as
many other interested parties as possible.
